As an update on the bear seen near Doylestown... The bear
was seen on Homan Street in Doylestown last night at around 9:30.
These animals cover great distances so the bear could be miles away
from there now. The fact is these spottings will become more an more
common as the bears become established in our area.
These are black bears, not grizzly’s.
While most people are excited and alarmed when they see one, these
animals pose no real threat to humans if you just leave them alone.
UPDATE!!!! The bear shown in the photos was seen in Eastern Chippewa Township early today! Great photo catch by a citizen!

I'd love to see him! I grew up with black bears all around me. We used to go out to the city dump, when I was a kid, just to watch the bears. If you keep your distance, they won't bother you. About the worst thing they usually do is knock over your garbage cans and make a mess. Poor thing is probably just lost and hungry.
And when children dont know any better and go after it, then what?
BEAUTIFUL ANIMAL BUT REMEMBER IT IS A WILD ANIMAL !
@anonymous #2: It's no different than if your child went after a dog it didn't know. In fact the bear will be more scared and run away faster than a dog would.
don't you think it may be the parents' responsibility to teach children not to approach ANY animal that isn't theirs??
I agree, you would certainly teach your child not to approach a strange dog, raccoon, or person so why not teach them to stay away from the bear?
How many kids do you know would run up to a bear? Seriously? You sound like my dad who says you shouldn't let your kids run around barefoot because they could step in dog pee and get it in a cut and get a staph infection and die!! How in the world did my oldest child make it to age 18 running around barefoot???
