Four vendors to be charged with underage alcohol sales.

On Friday evening deputies conducted checks of 17 Wayne County alcohol vendors to verify that they were not selling alcohol to underage persons. Each check was performed by having a person under the age of 21 go into the establishment and attempt to purchase alcohol. If the vendor requested ID the underage person provided accurate information in the form of their driver’s license.

Four of the 17 vendors visited sold alcohol to the underage buyers.

Equally as important are the vendors who checked the IDs and refused to sell. One of these vendors even lectured the buyer on the dangers of underage drinking. It is refreshing to see that the majority of the establishments visited were doing things right.
