Fred was owned and handled by Reserve Deputy Michele Lemley.
Today Deputy Lemley made a very hard decision this morning in putting her friend down. Fred was the first "law enforcement sworn horse" in the history of the Wayne County Sheriffs Office.
Michele, an unpaid volunteer, constantly trained with Fred achieving the title of "service horse" accredited with our profession. Fred and Michele rode the fair together, helped on searches, parades and at the reserves Country Western Show. Both Michele and Fred always conducted themselves with a professional attitude.
