Pair arrested just hours after escape from juvenile facility

On June 15th our office responded to the report of an escape from the Linda Martin Attention Center located at 6807 NonPariel Road Wooster, Ohio. The staff member who made the call stated that two 17 year olds who were incarcerated in the facility had assaulted a male guard and took keys that allowed them to escape as well as keys to the guard’s vehicle.

Once outside the facility, the two took the guards vehicle but crashed the car after traveling less than one mile. After crashing the car, the two fled on foot.

Officers form not only the sheriff’s office but also the Wooster Police, Ohio State Highway patrol and the Ohio State University Police responded to the area and attempted to locate the suspects.

At approximately 6AM a resident in the 2500 block of Honeytown Rd called to report that the two suspects were seen near her car but fled when a security light was activated and her husband gave chase.

Officers responded to the Honeytown Rd location and continued the search and located the suspects hiding in a storage shed. The two were then taken into custody without incident.

“I am pleased that this case was brought to a successful conclusion so quickly. This could only be done as a result of a joint effort between law enforcement and the public” said Sheriff Hutchinson.
