Deputies recover tools, man to be charged.

On June 13th deputies conducting follow-up recovered over $50,000 of stolen property from the home of a Congress township man.
Deputies were at the home to interview the suspect about his possible involvement in thefts in the area. Upon arrival at the home the deputies observed property that had been reported stolen and discovered that the suspect was not at home.

The deputies then obtained a search warrant for the property and recovered tools, atvs, lawn care equipment and other merchandise. Many of the items had been reported as stolen from the nearby area.

While conducting the investigation the deputies learned that the suspect had been recently seriously injured in an atv crash and was in the hospital. The deputies made contact with the suspect on June 18th and obtained a confession to a number of crimes.

This case has been sent to the Wayne County prosecutor’s office for charges of Receiving Stolen Property, Criminal Tools, Theft, and B&E against the 48 year old man.
